Barnes Aerospace expands MRO facility

Barnes Aerospace has completed the expansion of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in East Granby, Conn. The project provides an additional 32,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, bringing the total to more than 84,000 sq. ft. The facility performs highly complex repairs of cases, frames, diffusers, bearing housings, and major rotating hardware across a vast array of commercial and military engine platforms for the global aerospace industry and the industrial gas turbine market.

One of the upgrades is a chemical cleaning scheduled for completion in Q4 2024. This will bolster the plant’s current capabilities of welding (electron beam, TIG, plasma arc, and laser clad), vacuum brazing, heat treating, plasma and dual wire arc coatings, shot peening, and NDT (X-ray, FPI, and MPI).

The Barnes Aerospace East Granby facility is a repair station certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the European Aviation Safety Agency, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China. It services some of the world’s largest commercial airlines and aviation OEMs.
