In 2009 and 2010, I offered a little tongue-in-cheek look at current issues in December blog posts—one a parody of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and the other, a really lame take on “Let it Snow.”
This year, I was motivated by Alvin and the Chipmunks to revive this holiday exercise to the tune of their Grammy-award-winning song “Christmas Don’t Be Late.” My apologies to Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. (a.k.a. David Seville). None to Congress.
Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for worry and time for fear
We’ve been told about the cliff
One from which we must not slip
Want a plan that’s fair for all
We can do without the stall
We’ve been patient, but that can’t last
Please Congress, get off your a$$
Note: As I post this, the discussion continues with media reporting that the fiscal cliff talks have taken a step in the right direction (I’m assuming that’s away from the edge), and House Speaker John Boehner will introduce “Plan B” legislation to extend the Bush-era tax rates for those making $1 million and below.
Will an agreement be reached by the end of the year? Your guess is as good as mine.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
